I could have been a contender. About two weeks ago I responded to a position as a shipping/receiving clerk at David Yurman. If you don't know who David Yurman is let me inform you that the company is a big name in jewelry and fashion. Therefore, when I received a call back for an interview I was so excited and actually thought I had it in the bag. As a lover of all things fashion and as an inspiring jewelry maker myself this position could have been a huge step in the right direction concerning my career goal in life. Unfortunately, the job would require a more flexible schedule which would lead to late hours and due to my evening classes I could tell by the look in the interviewers eyes that she was no longer considering me for the position. What a shame I was so close but yet so far from a dream job working for one of the biggest jewelers and no amount of convincing was going to get this lady to consider me as a long time asset to the company rather than just another employee. I guess she was more concerned about how many hours they could get out of me then what I could accomplish and bring to the future of David Yurman. Damn, I could have been a contender.
